Notes from the Cottage
Hello again. Another year is upon us and the weather is as confusing as ever. Our week of summer back in April brought about an early showing of blooms. Nights have remained cool and as a result, some plants have broken dormancy while others are reluctant to show growth. Be patient.
Here at Adams, the greehouses are full with annuals and vegetable plants as well as herbs. Hanging baskets and mixed planters are ready - also beautiful.
In perennials, there are new varieties and a larger selection overall. Lily Looks is a new offering of Asiatic lilies. They are more compact and feature more blooms per plant over a greater period of time. Also new are exciting new Euphorbia's, Tasmanian Tiger and Glacier Blue. Both are variegated green and white and would bring a bright spot to the garden. Several new varieties of Clematis are available this year, including solid colors as well as two-tones.
The rose are is bursting with color, ready for your choosing. Members of the Western New York Rose Society help make choices that are perfect for our area. A rose seminar has been scheduled for June 7th at 10AM. Rosarians will provide advice and help with your rose care questions.
New pot displays with prices are in the perennial area. They are attractive and much easier to see. Pots that do not fit i the regular price structure have their own Adam's price sticker making shopping much easier.
On behalf of Susan, Debi, Rita, and Sarah, we look forward to seeing you soon.
All the best,
Wayne
