Notes from the Cottage Archives
May 4th, 2007
Since the last report, things have changed considerably. We've had April showers and the weather has become more temperate. The tables are fuller with new varieties and lots of color.
The big news is that we now have over 1200 roses, some of which are in bloom. Be sure you look for the Jackson and Perkins varieties in purple pots. It is J&P's Ultimate Collection featuring the Ronald and Nancy Reagan tea roses. His is red and her's is light apricot with darker hues. Sure to be a favorite is the Pope John Paul II white tea rose, a limited edition for 2007 only available at select garden centers. This elegant rose with a strong citrus scent grows in the Vatican's private garden.
Soon, new pot pricing displays will be in the perennial area. The green and white posts will have our most popular pots with their prices displayed. Pots that don't fit the usual pricing structure will have their own price tags on the pot.
The blue heron has returned to the pond and the finches are feasting at the feeders. We always look forward to their return.
It was good to see old friends last weekend and learn you are enjoying our efforts. Please remember, if you are looking for a specific perennial and you don't find it on the tables, see me and I'll make every effort to secure it for you.
Until next time, happy gardening.
All the best,
Wayne
